India Meteorological Department is the designated meteorological authority to provide the necessary meteorological services  for air navigation both for national and international flights operating through the Civil Aerodromes in India

         Four aviation Forecasting Offices, functioning at Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi and Chennai airports, serve as Meteorological Watch Offices for the  flights in their respective  'Flight Information Regions'. Apart from Chennai, seventeen Airport Met Offices of different classes are functioning in the region.
